I stood in the doorway, my heart hammering so hard it felt like it would shatter my ribs.

The man slowly lowered the iPad and smiled at me.

"Guess you caught me."

Months of paranoia instantly burned into pure rage.

I lunged forward and shoved him hard. "Who are you? How did you get in here?"

He leaned back against the sofa, completely unbothered.

"This is my house. Why can't I be here?"

"The deed is in my name." I glared at him. "Who the hell are you?"

"Who's to say you aren't the one taking up my space?"
