Chapter 7

Jennifer collapsed into a chair, her face pale as a sheet. She was still stunned, unable to process the sudden upheaval.

Jerome stood in the center of the hall, hands behind his back, his chest rising and falling rapidly. He was clearly furious.

I went to his side and spoke softly.

"Dad, don't waste your anger on someone like him," I said.

Jerome turned to look at me, his gaze a mix of emotions.

There was anger, concern, and a touch of confusion.

"Katherine, when did you find out about all this?" he asked. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
