Chapter 1
My boyfriend, Alex Carter, finally found his real parents.
He went from ordinary to heir to a fortune overnight.
But the first person he contacted after getting rich was his first love, the girl he never got over.
He asked her if she wanted to be the CEO's wife.

It took him a full week after reuniting with his family to return to our little rental apartment.
He was still wearing those worn-out clothes, no hint of happiness on his face, and his hair was just as messy as before.
Online, people were going crazy. They said his father was a billionaire who lived in a mansion, drove luxury cars, and owned several companies.
His family had been searching for him for twenty years, and now that they'd finally found him, they were ready to hand over everything to him.
He was the luckiest guy on the internet right now.
I was genuinely happy for him, but I couldn't resist teasing him. "Alex, are you here to take me away and make me the CEO's wife?"
That was the future he always promised me, the perfect life we'd dreamed about together.
We were both orphans, growing up with no one to rely on, struggling just to survive.
We met on the streets of the city. After his exhausting workdays, he'd swing by and buy a cup of lemonade from me.
We'd supported each other for five years, living in this run-down little rental apartment together.
Life was tough, but we always found warmth in each other.
He'd always say, "If I ever find my real parents and they turn out to be loaded, I'll make you the CEO's wife."
He'd joke about rolling with bodyguards, dining in luxury restaurants, and choosing any Hermès or Lamborghini we liked.
I'd crack up every time and promise him, "If my real parents are rich, I'll make you the big boss. Private jets, yachts, whatever you want, I'll buy it for you."
We'd snuggle up on those freezing nights, laughing our heads off under the covers.
Now, he really did find rich parents for real.
So I was super excited. I was finally going to be the CEO's wife.
"Honestly, my family's just normal. Don't buy into what you see online. It's all just hype for attention," Alex said, pulling me back to reality.
I was stunned for a second. He glanced away and said calmly, "The family business is bleeding money, and we owe the bank hundreds of millions of dollars. So much for my rich kid dreams."
Can that really be true?
I watched him quietly, saying nothing.
He glanced at me impassively, then got up and walked toward the bedroom.
"I have to go back tomorrow, so I'll pack up my clothes," he said.
"Are you coming back?" I pressed.
He paused, his back to me, and sighed. "I'll see how it goes. I want to spend more time with my parents. We just reunited, after all."
So he's not coming back, is he?
And what about me?
Is this really how our five years together ends?
I opened my mouth, but in the end, I couldn't bring myself to say anything.
