Chapter 1
After I gave birth to my daughter, Grace Shaw, at the hospital, my husband, Henry Shaw, brought home a young, beautiful woman, saying she was there to take care of me as our nanny.
But the nanny, Lydia Quinn, killed my newborn daughter. Henry and my son, Jason Shaw, insisted she didn't mean it, and asked me to forgive her.
Later, when I got seriously ill, Henry took the money I needed for treatment and bought the nanny a house instead.
Right before I died, Jason and Henry told me to let go and die. Lydia confessed that she did it all on purpose, and that she delayed Grace's treatment and made sure she died right in my arms.
I was driven to death by their cruelty.
When I woke up again, I found myself back on the day Grace fell ill.
This time, I was done with my ungrateful son and my bastard husband.

"Don't worry, it's just jaundice. Every baby gets it, and it'll go away in a few days," Lydia assured me.
I looked up at her, still in a daze, but she chattered, "My daughter, Riley Lawson, also had jaundice when she was little. She looked yellower than Grace. After the first month, she was fine."
I zoned out, lost in my thoughts. I knew I was already dead. Grace hadn't gotten the treatment she needed in time, and by the time we rushed her to the hospital, it was already too late.
After that, I spiraled into depression and got seriously ill. It would've taken a fortune to save me.
Back then, I couldn't bear the thought of selling the house to pay for my own treatment, but Henry and Jason kept pressuring me. I couldn't bear the thought of leaving them behind, so I signed the papers to sell the house.
But before I knew it, Henry used that money to buy Lydia a house and put it under her name only.
Right before I died, Henry and Jason showed up at the hospital.
Jason said with a grin, "It's a relief you're dying. Life was hell with you around.
"Just die already, Mom. Be with Grace. She must be missing you.
"Now I've got a new Mom. She'll look after Dad and me just fine."
I never thought that after they drove me to my grave, I'd wake up a year in the past.
Grace's cries snapped me back to reality. I scooped up my little girl, snuggled her in her swaddle, and thank god I made it back in time.
"Anna Lane, you don't trust me, do you?" Lydia said. "My father was a country doctor for years, and I grew up seeing cases like this all the time."
I looked up at Lydia's young face, rage burning inside me. She was from my husband's hometown, and he'd told me that even though she was young, she'd worked as a nanny in the city for years. That's why I trusted her with Grace.
But she kept stopping me from taking Grace to the hospital, and in the end, she ended up causing Grace's death.
Later, she shamelessly moved into the house Henry bought her with the money meant for my treatment. Before I died, she came to the hospital and admitted she'd purposely delayed Grace's treatment to make sure Grace died and so she could snatch everything I had.
With all the strength I could muster, I landed a fierce slap right across her face.
Lydia stood there, stunned.
"Get out!" I shouted.
Staring at this snake in disguise, I swore to myself that if anything happened to Grace this time, I would make her regret crossing me.
I didn't spare a glance at Lydia crying behind me. I grabbed Grace and rushed to the hospital. The doctor said we were just in time.
If I had waited any longer, it would have progressed to kernicterus, and even if Grace had survived, she would have been left with permanent brain damage.
Now, she needed a few days in the NICU under the blue lights, and she'd be good as new.
After rushing to get Grace admitted to the hospital, I was drained. I collapsed right outside the entrance, bawling my eyes out.
In my previous life, Grace had barely opened her eyes before she began seizing in my arms and fell into a coma from which she never woke.
The memory alone sent a cold shiver through me. Thank God I got another chance. This time, I would tear Henry and Jason apart and make them pay for what they did to her.
When I got home, Henry and Jason were already there.
Lydia was sitting on the couch, covering her face as she cried. Jason stood beside her like the dutiful son, looking heartbroken while gently wiping her tears.
When Henry saw me, he snorted impatiently, "Lydia might be the nanny, but she's still a person. How could you slap her out of nowhere? Are you human?"
Jason was furious, too. "Mom, it's bad enough you boss Dad and me around all the time, but now you're picking on Lydia, too?" he snapped.
I'd been running back and forth at the hospital, still hurting from my C-section, and when I got home, all I got were their accusations. They didn't care at all about Grace, who was still in the hospital. All that mattered to them was Lydia.
Of course, I wasn't human. I was a vengeful spirit straight out of hell. From then on, I cared only about Grace. As for those two scumbags, I was done with them.
"Henry, please don't blame Anna. She just had a baby, and her emotions are all over the place. It's fine if I get slapped a couple of times," Lydia said, hiding behind Henry, looking all pitiful and meek.
