I took a deep breath and glanced around, my eyes landing on the glass jar by the front door.

It was the jar of peach-flavored candies I'd left for Ryan before I left.

He was always so stubborn about taking his medicine, complaining it was too bitter.

So, before I left, I made sure to stock up enough for three years. I told him with a smile, "Eat one a day, and by the time you finish them all, I'll be back."
