I reached out and pushed the invitation back across the nightstand. "Take it away."

Helen gave a cold laugh. "Feeling guilty?"

I pressed the record button on my phone and set it face down on the edge of the blanket.

I spoke calmly, "Helen, if you say one more word about where this baby came from, I'll have the hospital call the police."
