Chapter 4

What did I do? I couldn't let what happened to Lewis happen to Zoey. I couldn't.

I racked my brain, desperately searching for a way out.

Suddenly, I remembered the high-beam flashlight in my bedroom. I snatched it up and ran back to the balcony.

Down below, Zoey was stepping out of her car, opening a big umbrella.

Just as she moved toward the building entrance, I flicked the flashlight on and aimed the blinding beam directly into her eyes, waving it frantically.

Finally, she looked up at me.

I waved my arms wildly. "GO BACK! BEAR!"
