He was clearly riding high, looking absolutely triumphant.

"Emily, guess you're not as capable as you thought, huh?" he said, his voice dripping with smug satisfaction.

I stared at him, having to bite back the urge to slap him right then and there.

The driver rolled up and opened the car door for me.

Just as I was about to get in, James grabbed my arm.

"Not even a word? Giving up already?" he smirked.
