Steven limped out of the hospital, his injured leg aching with every step.

The rain drenched his shirt.

The staff member refused to give back his staff pass.

She said, "Dr. Brooks, the board has terminated your contract. Please don't come back."

When Steven returned to his apartment, an official legal notice was left in the doorway, informing him that the court had ordered the property seized pending investigation.

He called Natalie, only to find that it had been disconnected.

Michael's phone was dead, too.

The so-called allies who used to fawn all over him had vanished without a trace.
