Nathan's POV

Nathan watched Eve walk out the door, but he didn't chase after her.

He told himself she just needed a night to cool off.

Over their eleven years together, they had disagreements before.

Whenever Eve was upset, she usually stayed late at the museum and came back once she felt grounded.

This time wouldn't be any different.

After the front door clicked shut, Nathan stood frozen in the entryway for a long time.

Eve's slippers were still neatly aligned by the shoe rack; her coat hung in its usual spot.
