Chapter 4

I sat in the sterile waiting room of Dr. Winters' office, my fingers mechanically folding and unfolding the corner of a magazine I wasn't reading. The court-mandated art therapy group wouldn't start for another fifteen minutes, but I'd arrived early, as always. Predictable Sarah. That's what Victoria had called me.

The glass doors to the building swung open, and my breath caught in my throat. Victoria's slender figure glided across the lobby, her Louboutins clicking confidently against the marble floor. She wasn't headed to the therapy wing but toward the elevators that led to the administrative offices.
