After we moved, Edward turned down all his social engagements, came home on time every day, and even started cooking for us.

But I remained emotionally distant, treating him with a cool indifference, and at night, I insisted on sleeping in a separate room.

After a few days, he finally snapped. "We lost the baby. Do you think I'm not hurting too?

"What do you want from me? Why are you shutting me out like this?"

He looked utterly devastated.

If I didn't know he always dropped Olivia off at her place before coming home, I might have believed him.
