"Mom gets really upset," Lily said, her tiny voice shaking. "She yells. Once, she made me leave the room."

The comments on the livestream scrolled so fast they became a blur.

"I don't know what she'll do," Lily finished.

Every word was based on a real event. But every word was entirely stripped of context.

I didn't yell. I didn't cry. I pushed open the studio doors.

The cameraman gasped. Ethan's head snapped up in shock.

I didn't rush toward Lily. Maya was right—that would only prove I was out of control.
