At 3:30 PM, the hospital room door opened.

Jessica walked in first. She wore a soft yellow maternity dress and had a perfectly crafted look of worry on her face. Her eyes were slightly red, as if she had been crying.

"Emmy," Jessica called as she hurried to my bedside and grabbed my hand.

Her palm was warm, but her fingertips were icy cold. "You really scared me. When I heard about your accident, I was in total shock and couldn't stop crying."
