Chapter 4

Adrian stared at me as if he no longer recognized my voice.

Rose twisted in his grip. A red band was already rising around her wrist.

"She's my daughter too," he said.

"Then stop hurting her."

The phone on the fallen tripod was still recording. Celeste saw the red light and lunged for it.

"Turn that off."

I stepped on the edge of the tripod before she could reach it. "No. Let it see everything."

Adrian's fingers loosened for half a second. Rose pulled free and threw herself behind me.

The driver stood in the open doorway, pale and uncertain.
