Just after midnight, Ethan finally returned to the hotel rooftop.

He expected Claire to be angry.

He had already prepared an explanation.

Vanessa had panicked over the VELA data. She needed him. The company needed him.

Claire would understand. She always did.

But the rooftop was empty.

The pianist was gone. The candles had burned down. The food had not been touched.
