Grant’s voice carried through the gap in the curtains and into my phone.

My hand had already reached the wooden railing beside the back door. A few more steps and I could walk inside and play the recording for both of them.

I stopped.

If I confronted him now, Grant could claim I had misunderstood. He could delete whatever else he was hiding.
