Chapter 1
Because of certain "issues" my husband had, we told everyone we chose to be childfree.
But in our sixth year of marriage, he suddenly said he wanted a baby.
I went through endless injections and medication, and finally got pregnant.
Then one day, after a check-up, I overheard him on the phone in the hospital stairwell. "Tristan, I thought you only loved Sophie. Why did you get Nathalie pregnant?"
My husband laughed coldly. "I love Sophie. I could never let her go through childbirth again."
"If it wasn't for saving Nolan with cord blood, I wouldn't let Nathalie have a baby for me."

I covered my mouth and ran away, stumbling.
I ran until she was out of Tristan Yates's sight, then broke down in tears.
The intense emotional turmoil made me suddenly dizzy, and I fainted to the ground.
When I opened my eyes again, Tristan was at my bedside with red eyes, watching over me. "Honey, you finally woke up. You really scared me."
He gripped my hand tightly, tears of joy streaming down his face.
The nurses who came to examine me all praised him as a rare, wonderful husband.
He never missed a prenatal visit and would get more anxious than anyone else whenever I felt even slightly uncomfortable.
The nurse said, "We've seen so many people in obstetrics, and husbands who care for their wives like yours are very rare."
Tristan adjusted my pillow beside me to make sure I was comfortable.
He said, "My wife went through a lot during her pregnancy. She is the hero of our family. What I have done is nothing compared to her sacrifices."
If I hadn't overheard his phone conversation earlier, I would have thought he was truly that good.
I was not feeling well, so the doctor advised me to stay in the hospital for a day for observation.
Tristan helped me lie down and gently said, "Get some rest. I'll go home and make some soup for you."
He usually asked his assistant to handle these things; he never needed to do it himself.
I didn't ask more. I quietly nodded and pretended to close my eyes and fall asleep.
Tristan thought I was asleep and quietly slipped out of the ward.
I immediately got out of bed and followed him all the way to the hospital's VIP ward.
Through the half-open door, I saw Tristan embracing Sophie Clark.
Sophie sobbed softly and said, feeling wronged, "If your wife weren't in the hospital, you wouldn't have time to see me and Nolan. Nolan and I will always come after her."
Tristan held her tightly, overflowing with affection.
He said, "Every moment I'm with Nathalie, I can't stop thinking about you and Nolan.
"Everything I did for her was to ensure she could give birth safely.
"Her body has changed a lot during pregnancy, and she doesn't have your curves. Sophie, you smell wonderful today. Let me enjoy it."
As Tristan spoke, his words grew flirtatious, and they became intimate right there in the hospital room.
There was even a young boy on the bed next to them, lying there with an oxygen tube.
I felt sick to my stomach. Staying here even a second longer would make me vomit.
I stumbled back to my own hospital room, extra emotional during pregnancy.
With this wave of shock, I finally broke down and burst into tears
The doctors and nurses all gathered around me.
The more gently they cared for me, the more I kept thinking about my husband being with another woman at this very moment.
Tristan received a call from the doctor and arrived in less than five minutes. "Nathalie, what happened?"
He tried to come closer, but I pushed him away.
Tristan didn't get angry with me; instead, he glared furiously at the medical staff nearby.
"I just left for a moment, and Nathalie's already in trouble. How are you all doing your jobs?" he barked.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a red mark on his neck, and my emotions unraveled even further
As I desperately tried to push him away, I accidentally knocked over the hot water kettle by the bed.
Boiling water splashed onto Tristan, and even through his clothes, he couldn't help but cry out in pain.
But in the next moment, he immediately reached out to me with concern. "Nathalie, are you burned?"
But those hands had just touched Sophie's body not long ago.
I struggled away in disgust.
My stomach lurched, and before I could stop it, a surge of stomach acid burned its way up and out.
The doctor comforted the helpless Tristan. "At this stage, the mother is affected by pregnancy hormones, so emotional sensitivity is normal."
Tristan looked at me with concern and nodded firmly.
After throwing up, I was completely drained.
