When I got home, the first thing I did was take off my makeup.

I'd put on a haggard look to convince Richard, and it worked.

Now that the first step was done, the rest would be a piece of cake.

I wiped the steam off the mirror, and the woman looking back at me had a confident smile.

I told Richard that my husband's assistant had left, and I was stepping in for a while to handle things. With that little white lie, I slipped right into his company without any fuss.
