Daniel opened the box. Inside were stacks of yearbooks, a bunch of awards, and a locked, powder-blue diary.

I nearly stopped breathing, if it was possible.

I wanted to stop what would soon happen.

Dad spotted the diary and chuckled, "Hailee has loved journaling since she was a kid. She always locked them up like they're some priceless treasure. God knows where she tossed the key."

But Daniel caught sight of a lonely keychain tucked away in the corner of the box.
