"Yeah," I admitted. "I stopped your mom's coverage and I had your scholarship pulled.

"All of it was mine to begin with. Why can't I take it back?

"I paid your mom's bills. I arranged that scholarship. Even every dime you spent on Lily came from me. Did you think I didn't know?"

Nathan tried to play it cool in front of Lily. He said, "My mom's bills were a loan. I signed IOUs, so I'll pay you back. And I earned that scholarship myself. It had nothing to do with you."
