Chapter 1
At the party, my husband, Myron Garcia—he was a CEO—lost a game of Truth or Dare. The penalty was to share the most thrilling sex he had ever had.
He raised an eyebrow and spoke calmly, "Yesterday, in the office."
His words immediately caused a stir. "Awesome! How was it?"
Meanwhile, his assistant, Eloise Dixon, flushed red and buried her face tightly against his chest.
Myron curled his lips into a smile and said, "Not bad—it's unforgettable."
As soon as he finished, his friends chimed in, "Myron, you're playing with fire—better keep this from Mrs. Garcia."
I was Mrs. Garcia, the legitimate wife whom Myron had pursued relentlessly for two years and proposed to ninety-nine times before I agreed to marry him.
The room filled with laughter, but I felt a chill seeping into my bones.
It turned out love could change after all.
That day, I decided to leave him.

When I arrived, the birthday party had already started.
Hearing the laughter from inside, I took a deep breath, pushed open the private room door, and everyone's eyes instantly turned to me.
"Myron, come home with me," I said.
I fought back the pain in my chest and stared straight at this man I had been with for eight years.
He frowned, his face full of annoyance. "Maeve, what's your problem?"
"I heard everything," I said.
He said, "It was just a game, some trash talk. Why are you making such a big deal out of it?"
Myron avoided my gaze, clearly embarrassed in front of his friends.
My eyes stung with tears. I was fed up. "If you don't come home with me now, we're getting a divorce."
My mother-in-law, Daniela Garcia, had given me a hard time for years, but I had never once mentioned divorce—until now.
For a second, Myron looked stunned.
Then Eloise spoke up with a fake smile. "Mrs. Garcia seems upset, Mr. Garcia. Maybe you should go home."
I turned to look at her—and froze. She looked almost exactly like Bethany, Myron's childhood sweetheart, who had passed away.
Myron snapped back to his senses, kicked the table hard, and a harsh noise echoed through the room.
He said, "Fine! Let's get divorced. Maeve, you begged me to marry you back then—I only said yes because I felt sorry for you. Now you're acting all high and mighty with me?"
The room fell silent instantly.
His friends' eyes were full of mockery. I knew I would become a laughingstock and a wife who had overestimated herself.
"You bastard!" I pulled off my wedding ring and threw it at him, then turned to leave.
His cold voice shot out behind me. "Don't test me, Maeve. If you take one more step, don't ever think about coming back to the Garcia family again!"
I stopped in my tracks. Tears streamed down my face. My heart shattered.
I was the heir to the Lincoln family. I grew up sheltered, bright, and full of life.
When my father, Rodney Lincoln, was seriously ill, he once warned me, "Maeve, Myron is a spoiled playboy. He's not worthy of you."
But at that time, I loved him so deeply that I couldn't listen to any advice.
I said, "These are all misunderstandings about him from outsiders."
"He was honest with me—before he met me, he'd always loved Bethany. They grew up together, and she passed away from illness years ago," I continued.
Rodney tried one last time. "His family business is currently in trouble. I'm afraid he might be using you."
Still, I defended him. "Not everyone is that calculating, Dad. I trust Myron. He promised he'd always love me and never let me down."
Later, Rodney passed away from his illness.
I inherited everything from the Lincoln family and married Myron, using my fortune to save his company.
I thought that after everything I had given, I deserved a happy ending.
But I didn't realize until tonight that people's hearts are like the sun—one can't stare right at them.
