The diary read: [January 8, 2020

Dear Diary, It seems like Caspar finally had a breakthrough today.

He gave me a velvet box.

Inside was a gold bracelet.

A chill ran through me.

Warmth flooded my heart.

He pulled me into his arms.

I caught the scent of some perfume.

But Caspar was on set.

It was normal.

He said, "Thanks for looking after my mom lately.

"She's sharp-tongued but soft-hearted, Claire. Don't let it get to you.

"You've really had it tough."
