Chapter 2
I turned my head, suspicious.
The delivery man had slowly peeled away the thick layer of fake beard and wiped off all the gruesome marks from his face.
As his true appearance was revealed, everyone present gasped.
"Oh my God, Ethan looks a hundred times better than in the photos."
"I can't believe I'm seeing a celebrity."
The crew members who had been milling around rushed over toward us in an instant.
I was stunned.
Charles, who had just been thrown aside, was now casually dumped onto the floor by the burly men.
Brushing the dust off his clothes, he stood up, full of displeasure. "Even if you're a celebrity, you can't act all high and mighty. This is my wedding, you know."
He grabbed the stunned Lauren, murmuring doubtfully. "Is he really the Best Actor? Could Samantha have hired him to sabotage the wedding?"
Lauren snapped back to attention at his reminder.
The staff quickly tried to calm everyone down and urged them to put their phones away.
Lauren turned to me, her brows furrowed, eyes cold. "Samantha, you've really outdone yourself. You actually hired an actor to perform at my wedding? Tell me—how much did you spend to steal the spotlight on my special day?"
She didn't even believe Ethan was a celebrity, going so far as to accuse me of scheming from the very beginning. "Why didn't you pick another day to sleep with a disabled delivery guy? Why my wedding day? Samantha, what exactly were you planning?"
I was still reeling from the transformation of the delivery man's identity, my mind struggling to process it.
Hearing Lauren accuse me so arrogantly, I could no longer suppress the sting and anger building in my chest.
"Lauren, I'm your sister. Am I so worthless in your eyes?" I shouted through tears. "Someone drugged my drink today. I'm the one who was harmed. And you—my own sister—couldn't care less and immediately assumed I was seducing your fiancé."
Whether in my previous life or now, Lauren had never treated me like family.
She only saw me as a tool to exploit. If she couldn't squeeze value out of me, she would degrade me and keep me down.
Our parents had always been biased. And she had always bossed me around, treating me like a servant.
Yet, because she was my only sister, I had always submitted willingly, believing that family came first.
But my naivety had cost me my life.
Thankfully, time travel had given me a second chance—and the clarity to see the true faces of Lauren and our parents.
After this farcical wedding, I would never again indulge in any unrealistic illusions about these so-called family members.
Having vented my grievances, I composed myself and coldly looked at Lauren and Charles. "Do you really think your worthless fiancé is some prized catch that everyone would drool over?"
I turned to my parents, exposing Charles' true nature. "Do you really think Charles is some rich heir? You're so foolish. His family is on the brink of bankruptcy.
"And his supposedly wealthy parents? They've had strokes from being humiliated by Charles—they're still bedridden in the hospital."
Charles and Lauren's faces drained of color.
They never expected me to know the truth behind their fake, glamorous facade.
Charles waved his fists threateningly. "Bitch, what the hell are you saying?"
Just as he lunged at me, Ethan pulled me to his side and signaled the burly men.
The bodyguards immediately moved in, surrounding Charles and pressing his shoulders firmly. "Behave yourself."
Charles shouted. "Someone, help me—"
But everyone could clearly see that Charles was being unreasonable.
Combined with his earlier harassment of the girl, people only whispered among themselves, their eyes full of disdain.
My parents were dumbfounded by the sudden string of revelations.
They kept glancing between me and Lauren, lips trembling. "Lauren, Samantha must be making this up, right? Bankruptcy? Strokes?
"Charles is supposed to be rich. The wedding looks too extravagant to be fake. Lauren, tell us the truth."
Lauren's ears flushed with shame, her eyes filled with hatred for me.
But at that moment, she had no choice but to salvage her reputation. "Samantha's lying. She's jealous I got a good fiancé and is deliberately slandering us.
"The Grant family is wealthy. Charles' company is about to go public. Marrying him means I'll enjoy a luxurious life as a society wife."
Her obsession with reputation left her no choice but to stick to her denial.
