The next afternoon, Daniel arrived at Easthill Cemetery right on time.

I'd already brought Sophia's favorite stuffed white rabbit from the house by the sea and set it gently at her grave.

Daniel skipped the formal attire planned for his succession ceremony and wore only a simple black overcoat. His two bodyguards stayed outside the cemetery gates while he walked toward me alone.

His eyes were still cold and sharp, and it was clear he was offended by everything that had happened.
