Chapter 2
Remy wouldn’t take no for an answer, tugging me back with a firm grip. 'Luisa, just go talk to Alessandra real quick, and then you’re free to go.'
I tried to shake him off, but he yanked me back into the private room without hesitation.
'Alessandra, I brought Luisa back. She wasn’t feeling great earlier and wants to apologize,' Remy announced, his tone almost too eager.
Alessandra’s smile was soft, her cheeks slightly flushed. 'It’s okay, Luisa. If you’re not feeling well, you should really take it easy.'
Remy nudged my shoulder gently, leaning in to whisper urgently, 'Come on, say something already.'
My head was spinning, and his constant pushing only made me more annoyed. I pinched his arm sharply to break free, then spun on my heel and marched out.
'Luisa!' Remy called after me, his voice tinged with frustration.
Alessandra’s voice wobbled slightly, 'Remy, does Luisa… not like me?'
It sounded like Remy muttered something comforting before he caught up to me, grabbing my arm again, his tone now edged with irritation. 'Luisa, Alessandra finally agreed to be with me. Why are you acting like this?'
His frown deepened, clearly upset. 'Just come back and apologize to her, okay?'
'It’s just a university admission. Is this really worth all the drama?' I shot back, stopping abruptly to glare at him.
He hesitated, and I pressed, 'If I apologize, will you let me go?'
When he didn’t answer, I walked over to Alessandra, gave her a brief nod, and said flatly, 'I wasn’t feeling well tonight and missed what you said. My apologies. Congrats to you both. Goodbye.'
Returning to Remy, I asked blankly, 'Are we done here?'
His expression softened slightly, as if he finally sensed something was wrong. 'Can I take you home? I’ll have someone stay with Alessandra. You seem… off.'
'No need,' I cut him off sharply.
Suddenly, the whole ordeal felt less overwhelming.
At least the university had agreed to waive all my tuition fees and offered me a $10,000 scholarship every year.
This was a lesson I wouldn’t forget anytime soon.
