Chapter 1
On a live variety show, the host surprised us by checking the seventh photo on our phones.
When my turn came, I showed a picture of my brother Ryan Pierce's new Rolls-Royce.
Camille Scott immediately got teary-eyed.
"Diana," she said, "you can dislike me all you want, but stop pretending my boyfriend's car is yours."
I was completely confused.
"Since when was he your boyfriend?" I murmured.
Camille started crying and called Ryan right there.
"Honey," she sobbed, "someone's being mean to me."
There was a silence on the other end.
Then Ryan's voice turned serious. "Who? Where are you? I'm coming back right now."
I stood there in shock.
Meanwhile, the internet went wild.
[Told you Diana's just chasing clout.]
[She picked the wrong guy to lie about. Mr. Pierce isn't someone she can use for fame.]
[He's so protective. Just marry her already and piss Diana off!]
But here's the thing—nobody told me my brother was secretly dating my biggest rival.
*****
My stunned face was instantly turned into a meme and shot straight to the top of the trending charts.
[LOL, does Diana seriously think Camille was just joking around with her? As if Camille would ever stoop to clout-chasing like her.]
[Like Mr. Pierce would ever let Diana ride on his fame. This meme deserves to be the meme of the year!]
[This is hilarious. Nothing beats seeing Diana get absolutely owned by Camille.]
The livestream chat was going absolutely wild, so I rushed out of the stream and straight into the green room.
[Did she run off because she's too embarrassed to face anyone?]
[Watching her get put in her place is just too good.]
I shut the door to the green room and gave Ryan a call.
He sounded anxious.
He said, "Hey, Diana, something urgent came up. Can we talk later?"
I said, "Let me guess. Your girlfriend's picked on, right?"
Ryan paused, sounding surprised. "Wait, Diana, how did you know that?"
"Have you lost your mind? You're actually dating her?" I blurted out, exasperated.
Ryan sounded earnest, "Diana, you have no idea. She's honestly the most special girl I've met in my whole life."
I was so stunned that I could barely catch my breath.
I snapped, "Don't be naive. She's an actress. She can fake any personality she wants. Nobody knows Camille better than I do. You need to break up with her. I mean it."
Ryan shot back, "She's not faking it."
He insisted, "Even when she's wasted, she keeps telling me she loves me."
My chest was about to explode from how annoyed I was.
I said, "Please, anyone can fake that. Listen. 'I love you, I really do.' Hear me? Easy."
Ryan blurted out, "What's wrong with you? Why would you even say something like that?"
He got chills all over, totally creeped out, and hung up on me without a second thought.
I spun around, still pissed off, only to see Camille waiting right at the doorway.
She had one hand over her mouth, phone in the other, totally playing the innocent.
Camille blinked. "Oops, sorry, Diana. I didn't know you were in here."
I scoffed.
I said, "Didn't you just stare at me as I walked in here?"
Camille whispered, "Diana, you..."
Her eyes welled up with tears in an instant.
The chat was going absolutely nuts.
[Back off from Camille, you psycho!]
[Can't stand this phony. Her movies are trash, and so is she. She was the one trying to ride on the fame of Camille's boyfriend first.]
I had zero interest in dealing with this drama, so I just turned and walked away.
But I barely finished touching up my makeup when the trending page went viral again.
I tapped in and saw a three-second clip of my so-called "confession" to Ryan.
The trending topic read, "What's wrong with you? Why would you even say something like that?"
"Diana tries to play the homewrecker, gets roasted by Ryan."
I was so mortified that I nearly blacked out.
