Chapter 1
My husband, Jack Turner, had just gone bankrupt. And to top it off, I caught him cheating.
I'd finally had enough. "I want a divorce."
The words had barely left my mouth when a child's voice echoed clearly in my head.
'Oh, Mommy, no! Dad didn't cheat. He's going to be rich again so soon.
'It's all that woman's plan. She came from another world just to break you up so she can take your place.
'If you leave him, you'll lose everything. They'll trick you and abandon you... We'll both end up with nothing. And she—
'She'll be the one at Dad's side. The new Mrs. Turner. Loved. Protected. Happy.
'I waited so long in the soul queue for you, Mom. This is my second chance. Please... don't throw it away.'
I blinked, stunned. Jack was just staring at me, exhausted and hollow.
"Fine," he said quietly. "I'll take tomorrow morning off. We can file then."
Something in me broke. My eyes filled, and a sob tore out of me.
"You really don't care. You're not even fighting for me. You're just... letting me go."
I swiped at my tears, voice trembling with rage and hurt. "You jerk."
Jack had never seen me so openly emotional before. He stared for a long moment, then finally sighed. "Don't worry. You can keep everything we have. I won't stick you with any of the debt."
When he didn't take the bait, I wiped my eyes, more for show now, and fired back, "I want a divorce because you cheated, and you know it!"
Jack looked even more tired, almost helpless. "If you want out, just say so. I'm not going to drag this out. There's no need to make things up."
My heart dropped.
If I didn't handle this carefully, it would leave a permanent scar between us, and that would definitely affect how generous he'd be with me later on.
"I have proof!" I grabbed my phone, ready to show him the video someone had sent me, the one of him at the massage parlor.
But when I opened the chat, the video was gone.
"Huh? Where is it?" I glanced up at Jack, flustered. "I'm not lying! Someone really sent me a video of you getting special treatment."
Jack's brow furrowed, but he stayed silent.
I had no idea what he was thinking, and my anxiety kept climbing.
"Believe what you want, but I'm not divorcing you!"
At least, not now.
If I ever leave, it would be after he made his comeback. And I would make sure I walked away with everything he was worth.
Jack's expression didn't change as he headed toward the bathroom. "Do what you want. If you change your mind, just say the word."
I knew he was annoyed, and I stomped my foot in frustration, feeling completely unraveled.
Even the little one inside me seemed to be panicking right along with me.
'Words cut deeper than winter frost, and Mom really hurt Dad just now. We're in trouble.'
'But Dad's loyal to a fault. As long as Mom refuses to leave, he won't force a divorce.'
'The real problem is the woman from the other world. If Mom stays, she'll keep coming after us. She's the worst!'
Just who is this transmigrator?
I was about to whisper the question when my little one yawned sleepily.
'So tired... going to sleep now...'
With that, he drifted off.

The way Jack and I met was unexpected, to say the least.
He'd built a small business from scratch.
I was just an ordinary girl with a regular office job.
The day my first love left me for someone richer, I was drinking away the pain, feeling reckless and lost.
As fate would have it, Jack had been drugged in a shady deal and managed to escape only to stumble right into me.
One thing led to another, and we spent the night together.
The next morning, he looked me in the eye and said he wanted to do right by me.
Tall, handsome, successful, and I was his first. How could I refuse?
I didn't.
I took his hand, and we got married that same day.
Jack was always reserved, buried in his work, so I never felt truly loved. But when it came to providing, he never held back.
Love wasn't really what I was after anyway.
Then the market crashed, and his business went under. He lost it all and sank into debt.
But he never let me struggle. And honestly, I was too taken with him to ever think about leaving.
It wasn't until this afternoon, when an unknown number sent me that video of him at the massage parlor, that I finally snapped and demanded a divorce.
Truthfully, I didn't even know about the baby until his voice started speaking in my mind.
Maybe Jack would care for the baby.
The thought gave me a sliver of comfort.
Jack was out of the shower in under ten minutes.
He walked out with just a towel around his waist, his toned, tanned physique on full display. Just looking at him made my mouth go dry.
