Chapter 1
Ethan Callowaystared out the window, his sky blue orbs focusing on the small droplets of water falling slowly from asbestos roof of the coffee shop.
From his line of sight, he could hear the small sound the droplets of water made after it splashed on the cobblestone, making a 'clack' sound.
The window was hazy on his side as he drew an 'a' on it, tracing the pattern on it with his calloused hand.
His latte was warm now, after giving his undivided attention to the rain.
It was okay anyways, considering Ethan had never liked hot coffee.
Piping hot substances only succeed in making his tongue burn and he could never taste jack shit of what he was drinking when it was hot.
A sigh escaped his lips as he tugged the drink to his lips, the liquid drowning in his throat as the taste of roasted coffee hit his tastebuds.
He set the mug on the table just as his friends came from outside, the bell chiming as the door to the coffee shop opened.
His friends joined him in the booth, rambunctious voices filtering through the air and breaking the silence that was there before.
To Ethan, it was a scientific fact that football players were rowdy and loud at the same time.
Most of the team wasn't here though, as far as Ethan could see.
Just three of his closest friends were with him at the booth.
"Fucking idiots all of you are." Ethan snorted as he drank the rest of his latte.
"You're all late."
"Dude it was raining.
The rain only let up now and none of us had umbrellas." His friend, Enoch argued.
"Yeah, and only girls have umbrellas." Sincere snickered at his own sexist comment.
Ethan sighed and tapped on the screen of his phone, letting the notifications pour.
Deciding that he didn't want to answer to anything he offed it again, focusing his attention back on his friends.
"Whatever.
I'm starving, let's go get something to eat." Sincere said as he got up from his position and went off to the cashier, Ruben, his other friend following suit.
"Don't you want anything?" Ethan raised a brow as he ran a hand through his blonde hair, trying to keep it from falling over his eyes.
"Nah," Enoch waved his hand.
"I'm not hungry.
And by the way, I thought of something interesting."
"Oh?" Ethan grinned from ear to ear.
He'd always loved challenges.
Interesting was practically his middle name.
"What's interesting?"
Enoch grinned, his grey eyes lighting up.
"A dare.
I thought of a dare."
"A dare?" He chuckled.
"Bring it on."
The bell chimed again, signaling that the door opened.
Enoch grinned, his eyes following the figure that entered.
"Take her out on a date." He said, smiling triumphantly.
His hand was pointed past Ethan's line of sight.
He chuckled.
"Sounds good." He craned his neck to see the girl he was pointing at, his eyes trailing up her figure and then to her face.
His eyes widened to see Rosalie Eaton standing at the cashier, her blue green eyes focused on the menu, her brown hair curled and in a messy bun.
In her hand was several text books and a haversack was slung over her arms.
He doubled checked to see if she was the one Enoch was pointing at her.
He was and Ethan could feel bile rising up his throat.
Of course Enoch didn't know who Rosalie was.
If he knew, or what Ethan did to her, he would've never even pointed at her.
Now he wanted nothing more than to back out of it.
But a dare was a dare and gulping his bile back down he nodded confidently.
Ethan Calloway doesn't back out of a dare.
And he didn't.
