Chapter 2
My plan failed again, and Orion left me so exhausted that I couldn't even get out of bed for three days.
Orion's possessiveness was ten thousand times scarier than I'd ever imagined.
I realized that my usual moves didn't faze him at all.
I needed to pull out the big guns.
It was time for the original novel's female lead, Wisteria, to make her entrance.
She was Orion's first crush, the one he could never forget, the only person who could ever make him lose control.
If I mercilessly humiliated Wisteria right in front of him, he'd definitely tear me apart to protect the woman he loves.
I found out Wisteria would be working as a waitress at a charity gala tonight.
My chance had finally come.
I put on the starry gown Orion had custom-made for me, a dress worth eight figures, took his arm, and made a grand entrance.
System Alert: [The female lead, Wisteria, has appeared at three o'clock. Player, get ready for battle.]
I took a deep breath and cooed softly in Orion's ear, "Orion, I'm going to the restroom."
'Sorry, Wisteria, but if I want to survive, I have to sacrifice you,' I thought.
Orion gave me a deep look with those eyes and nodded.
Of course, he could totally hear what I was thinking.
He figured my battle was me going off to chase away those clueless girls who kept throwing themselves at him.
To him, his Isolde was so head over heels for him. Even my jealousy was adorable.
Holding a glass of red wine, I walked straight toward Wisteria.
She was wearing a simple server's uniform, her innocent face clouded with nervousness.
"Well, if it isn't Wisteria," I drawled, imitating the classic snarky tone of a villainess.
Wisteria looked up, and when she realized it was me, her complexion turned very pale. "M-Ms. Fairchild."
"Who said you could look at my fiancé like that?" I snapped, raising my hand and dumping the entire glass of red wine right in her face.
Splash.
The whole room went dead silent.
Everyone turned to stare.
Wisteria stood there, looking utterly disheveled, red wine dripping from her hair, her eyes rimmed with tears in an instant.
'Way to go, Isolde. Look. Orion's staring right at me. He's about to tear me apart. Success is so close I can taste it,' I thought.
My heart raced as I waited for Orion's wrath to erupt.
Orion really did walk over.
His face was icy cold, and an intimidating aura seemed to suffocate the air around him.
He walked over to me, took off his suit jacket, and draped it over my shoulders.
Then, without even glancing at Wisteria, he pulled out a tissue and gently wiped the wine off my hand.
"Your hand got dirty." His tone was a mix of scolding and tenderness. "Just let the bodyguards take care of stuff like this."
Wisteria, guests, and I were all stunned.
'Wait, this isn't how the script is supposed to go. Wasn't he supposed to storm over, slap me, then pull Wisteria into his arms and shout, "Who dares touch my woman?"' I wondered.
After Orion finished wiping my hand, he lifted his gaze and shot Wisteria a cold, icy look. "Who permitted you to be here? Do you really think you can afford to dirty my fiancée's eyes?"
He wrapped his arm around my waist and told the bodyguard next to us, "Deal with her."
With that, he turned and walked away with me in his arms, leaving everyone staring in shock.
I was standing there, completely stunned. 'Oh no, I'm toast. I threw out my biggest ace, and it still blew up in my face. How did it end up like this?'
Orion leaned in, his lips brushing against my ear as he whispered so only I could hear. "Feeling jealous, huh? Relax. You're the only one I ever have eyes for. Isolde, you're getting more adorable every day."
I was so done. I wanted to cry, but couldn't even squeeze out a single tear.
Adorable, my ass. What kind of wild stuff was the psycho making up in his head?
