Chapter 4
"Get out of my way!"
Eric slashed wildly with his claws, unleashing the full extent of his strength to break through the blockade.
"Selena, look at me! Your soul still remembers me!"
Blades sliced through the air. The sharp clang of metal echoed relentlessly.
Eric was a strong Alpha, and for a moment, the guards couldn't pin him down. Shallow cuts opened across his body, his blood soaking through his clothes, but he seemed immune to the pain. He was dead set on tearing through the human wall to reach me.
"Selena! I know you resent me! You can torture me, you can take your revenge—do whatever you want to me, but you cannot throw yourself into another man's arms!"
His hoarse voice bounced off the walls of the vast hall.
"I already kicked Lily out! I'll never believe a word that lying woman says again! I'll change everything, just give me one more chance!"
He attacked with suicidal desperation, forcing the guards' defensive line to inch backward. He was getting closer.
Liam shifted his stance, ready to deliver a crippling blow to put the madman down.
The freezing wind howled through the open doors, making the torches flicker wildly.
I watched Eric's pathetic display without a single ripple of emotion.
His regret was real, but it stemmed from the bitter realization that his perfect fantasy was shattered. He regretted being played. He regretted losing a precious fated mate. He never once truly empathized with the absolute despair I suffered back then.
Just as Eric gathered every last ounce of his strength, on the verge of breaking through the final line of guards—
BOOM—!!!
The massive double doors of the hall, forged from century-old ironwood, exploded into a cloud of splinters with a deafening blast.
A violent blizzard surged through the destroyed entrance.
And with it came a terrifying, top-tier Alpha command.
There was no scorching heat in this pressure. Only the dead, freezing silence of absolute slaughter.
It crashed down on the entire hall like a collapsing glacier.
Thud! Thud!
Eric's few followers didn't even have time to scream. They were instantly crushed under the sheer weight of his aura, slamming to their knees, bleeding from their eyes and noses.
Eric, who had been fighting like a maniac just a second ago, was abruptly frozen in place. It was as if an invisible hand had clamped around his throat, pinning him to the floor.
His legs trembled violently, his strength entirely suppressed by this god-like dominance.
Through the swirling snow at the ruined entrance, a tall silhouette slowly stepped inside.
The man wore a heavy black wolf-pelt cloak. His short silver hair whipped wildly in the wind.
He possessed strikingly sharp features, but his crimson eyes were burning with a bloodthirsty, ruthless coldness.
"Who gave you permission..."
"...to bark at my Queen in my territory?"
