Chapter 1
At the Full Moon Mating Ceremony, Alpha Eric publicly rejected me, his fated mate.
"Selena, you are too frail. You aren't fit to be my Luna."
He pulled Lily into his arms, his eyes filled with absolute devotion. "My heart belongs only to her."
The agony of our severed mate bond nearly crushed my soul that day.
I was stripped of my identity, driven from my home, and tossed into the deadly wilderness like garbage.
Everyone thought I would die in that freezing night.
But I didn't.
After years of wandering, I took in countless abandoned lone wolves and single-handedly built the Dark Moon Pack, the most powerful pack on the continent.
Years later, Eric finally saw through Lily's selfish, hypocritical facade.
Consumed by regret, he came begging for another chance to love me.
But he didn't know that the Moon Goddess had already fated me to a far more powerful mate.
~~~~~
Bang!
The heavy doors of the Dark Moon Pack's great hall were shoved open.
Freezing wind and snow rushed into the warm sanctuary. From my high throne, I stared coldly at the man striding inside.
Eric.
The current Alpha of the Sunfire Pack. My former fated mate.
Five years had passed. Exhaustion and deep remorse now shadowed his eyes.
"Selena."
Eric stopped at the bottom of the steps. The arrogant edge he used to carry was gone, yet his posture still held a sickening sense of entitlement.
He looked up at me, his voice tight.
"I've banished Lily from the Sunfire Pack."
When he said those words, a flash of pain—the sting of a man who realized he’d been played—crossed his face.
"I was blind. I let her innocent act fool me, and I wronged you. But I see her true colors now. All those pitiful tears... it was nothing but a meticulously acted performance."
Eric looked at me, his tone pleading but underlined with a delusional certainty.
"I understand your grievances. But if you come back to Sunfire with me, I will restore your position as Luna. I'll make up for everything."
"We are fated mates, Selena. Chosen by the Moon Goddess. We're meant to be together."
Hearing this, I almost laughed out loud.
Looking at his remorseful face, I couldn't help but remember that night five years ago.
I had been so full of hope, welcoming my first Full Moon Mating Ceremony.
The Moon Goddess's guidance descended, bathing Eric and me in a soft, silvery light.
We were destined. Soul mates.
But right there on the altar, under the watchful eyes of the entire pack, Eric violently threw my hand away in disgust.
"I, Eric, Alpha of the Sunfire Pack, hereby reject Selena as my fated mate!"
His cold, heartless voice exploded into the silent night.
Then, he wrapped his arms protectively around a trembling Lily—a weak half-wolf who couldn't even shift.
"Lily is the only one I will ever love! And you, Selena? You are sickly. Your bloodline is inferior. You are entirely unworthy of being the Sunfire Luna! Your very existence is a disgrace to my pack!"
That night, I became the laughingstock of the entire werewolf world.
Lily hid against his chest, looking at me with pitiful eyes while a mocking smirk tugged at the corners of her mouth.
Enabled by Eric's cruelty, the elders ruthlessly stripped me of my pack membership. They pressed a red-hot iron into my shoulder, burning away my pack mark.
Then, they chased me into the Frozen Tundra like a stray dog.
They all thought I wouldn't survive the winter.
But not only did I survive, I became the Dark Moon Queen—a name that now struck terror across the entire continent.
"Selena, I know you're angry."
Taking my silence as hesitation, Eric took a step forward.
"I replay that night in my head every single day. Every time I think about what I did to you, I can't sleep."
"Banishing Lily was just the first step. When we return, I'll publicly clear your name. I'll punish the elders who drove you out. I'll give you justice."
"I was a fool. I mistook hypocrisy for innocence. But I'm awake now. I just want to go back to the beginning, to how we were always meant to be."
Eric's gaze locked onto me, heavy with guilt, longing, and a deeply rooted obsession.
He truly believed the Moon Goddess's bond couldn't be erased. He was convinced I was just waiting for an apology.
"You're still mad at me, aren't you? That's fine. I can wait. I will make it up to you, little by little."
When I gave zero reaction, his brow furrowed. Ignoring the icy glares of the guards lining the hall, he marched up the steps and reached out to grab my wrist.
"Come back with me, Selena."
Thud!
