Chapter 3
As I turned around, Victor appeared out of nowhere with a triumphant smile. "Do you like peeping? Or are you feeling threatened by Ellie?"
I glanced up at him. "What kind of threat can a human girl possibly be to me?"
"Oh? Is that so?" he moved in closer. "Aren't you worried she will replace you as Countess Ashcroft?
"Of course, if you want to stay Countess Ashcroft, you should consider how to please me."
I found his words both annoying and funny, and put my hand against his chest. "Honestly, I think Ellie is pretty great. She is gentler than I am and more considerate to you than I am."
As his face darkened, I kept talking, "If you want, I can divorce you. After all, we haven't had the chance to make a blood pact. Everything you want is still in time."
He grabbed my throat and burst out dangerous fangs. "That reminds me. On the night of the full moon, I'll make a blood pact with you. You belong to me forever."
Night had fallen, and the estate was shrouded in a dead silence.
I woke up in the darkness, but Victor was nowhere to be found beside me. I felt anxious, got up, and stepped out of the bedroom barefoot.
At the end of the shadowy hallway, I could hear the suppressed breaths from the guest room.
I was glued to the floor. Even though I had tried to prepare myself, facing betrayal for real still made my blood freeze.
Just then, a cold hand suddenly covered my mouth from behind, yanking me into a nearby room.
"Keep quiet. Don't ruin your husband's fun." A chilling voice whispered right by my ear. It was Lucien.
I shot him a fierce glare, and he slowly let go of his hand. But his arm around my waist only tightened.
"Let me go," I snapped.
He leaned in. "The moment I saw you on the dance floor that night, your figure has been in my mind and can never be driven away."
I gritted my teeth. "Please respect. I have a husband."
He gave me a sarcastic look and shot a mocking glance at the wall.
Behind that wall, the sounds that made one blush hadn't stopped.
His words pierced precisely the self-esteem I was struggling to maintain. "Your so-called husband is having his fun with his little pet next door.
"Don't you think I'm better than him, Sylvia?" he said.
His attractive voice suddenly lowered, and his lips almost reached my earlobes.
"If you agree, I can give you far more than you can ever imagine. All my love, all my loyalty, and a place no one else can take. And even remove everything in your way that bothers you," he added.
The last sentence was full of murderous intent.
He seized my chin, forced my head up, and before I could react, crushed his lips down on mine.
"You bastard," I snapped. With all my strength, I smacked him hard across his face. The sharp crack of the slap echoed through the silent storage room.
The ring on my finger cut his cheek, and blood trickled down.
He slowly turned back to me with a smile. "You have seen our future, haven't you?"
He wiped at the blood on his cheek with his finger, and the wound sealed up right away. "Why are you so afraid to admit it?" he whispered.
Panic swallowed me whole immediately. Not only was he powerful and unpredictable, but he could also see through my greatest secret.
I shoved him away with all my strength, stumbling back until I hit the wall. "Piss off. I would never be with you."
He didn't approach but stood a few steps away, with shadows casting over his handsome but now somewhat dangerous face.
