I sidestepped Kane's punch.

He lunged again, and I raised my arm to block him.

"Getting this angry first thing in the morning can't be good for your health," I said.

"Shut your mouth," Kane barked.

His eyes were blood red, and I could feel his inner gray wolf straining to break loose, its claws already half-formed at his fingertips.

"What did you do? How the hell did Miranda end up in your room?" he demanded.

"Ask her yourself," I said, stepping aside.

Miranda walked out of the room.
