The interview was scheduled for three days from now—just when I planned to make my exit.

Once the reporters were gone, Emily decided to stay over at Shaw Manor, dragging James along, all under the pretense of missing me.

Clearly, she wanted to keep tabs on me, afraid I'd slip away before the interview.

I saw right through her, but I didn't bother stopping her—just made my way down to the basement.
