I said, "You know what? The thing I regret most right now is not dying in that freezer last night.

"If I had died, I wouldn't have to hear your bullshit. At least I wouldn't have to face the fact that the man I loved for three years turned out to be a monster."

With that, I hung up the phone and blocked his number.

Then I tossed my phone onto the couch.

I walked over to the window. Down below, Norman's car finally drove away.

The parking spot was empty. It was as if he'd never even shown up.
