Oddly enough, Janetta twisted her ankle and cried out in pain at this juncture. Theodore's attention was instantly drawn to her, and he crouched down to check if she was okay.

All of the above happened in a split second. Before I knew it, the knife had already pierced my belly.

When I finally regained consciousness in the hospital, Theodore was at my bedside, his eyes bloodshot with worry and exhaustion. "Sheri, you're finally awake! Do you know you've been unconscious for three whole days and nights?"
