Chapter 3
Out of nowhere, Felix summoned the strength to bite hard on Scarlett's wrist.
Scarlett screamed in pain and slapped Felix hard across the face without hesitation.
Felix's lip split, blood trickling down, but he glared at her like a little wolf cub, refusing to back down.
He shouted in anger, "Don't you dare touch my Mommy! You're an evil witch!"
Scarlett, furious, snapped, "Who do you think you are? Come on, tie up this little bastard!"
Several servants rushed over and pinned Felix down.
Scarlett rubbed her wrist, her face contorted into something truly terrifying.
She snarled, "So Iris is hiding, right? Alright, I'll deal with you, you little bastard!"
She picked up a cup of scalding hot water from the stone table and walked towards Felix.
She jeered, "Didn't you say you came here to beg for food? Go on, drink it! Water from here, consider it your charity!"
Felix shouted, "No! I won't drink it!"
He struggled desperately, refusing to give in.
The scalding water was just about to be splashed on Felix's face.
"Stop." A cold, commanding voice cut through the chaos.
Sebastian was standing in the corridor, watching this scene with a deep gaze.
Scarlett's hand jerked, and the water splashed onto the ground.
She instantly switched to a pitiful expression and rushed into Sebastian's arms, saying, "Sebastian, he is out of control! I was just being nice, offering him some food, but he actually bit me! Look, my hand is broken."
Sebastian glanced at the faint bite mark on her wrist, then looked at Felix, who was still pinned to the ground.
Felix's face was swollen, blood smeared at the corner of his mouth, but his gaze was hard and unyielding, stubborn as ever.
Those eyes.
Sebastian was stunned for a moment.
It was uncanny.
It was the same fierce, stubborn look I had when he kicked me out of here, never once glancing back, no matter what.
Sebastian said calmly, "Let him go."
The servants let go of Felix.
Felix immediately scrambled up, but instead of bolting, the first thing he did was rush over to check if the urn on the ground was still in one piece.
Seeing it was safe, he heaved a sigh of relief.
Sebastian walked over and kicked the urn with his military boots. "What exactly is inside?" he asked.
"My Mommy's in here," Felix replied, clutching the urn, his voice rough. "She said it wouldn't hurt anymore if she turned to ashes."
Sebastian's frown deepened.
He suddenly crouched down, bringing his eyes level with Felix's.
He asked, "What's your name?"
"Felix," Felix replied.
Sebastian asked, "Who gave you that name?"
"My Mommy," Felix replied.
Somehow, Sebastian's heart skipped a beat.
Felix.
When I was pregnant, I once nestled in his arms and said, "If it's a boy, we'll name him Felix. If it's a girl, we'll call her Lily."
Back then, we were so in love.
But in the blink of an eye, I betrayed him to the enemy for just a few dollars.
Thinking of this, the brief warmth in Sebastian's eyes turned cold instantly.
He stood up and said in a cold voice, "Since your mom sent you here to put on a pity act, I'll play along with her game. Jasper!"
"Yes, sir!" Jasper replied.
Sebastian ordered, "Take him away and lock him up in the woodshed. Without my order, he is not allowed to eat. Let's see how long Iris can stand it before she finally comes out!"
Then Felix was dragged away.
He didn't cry or throw a tantrum, just clung to the urn, glancing back at Sebastian.
That glance was filled with disappointment and despair.
He said, "You're a bad man."
Sebastian's heart suddenly tightened. For a moment, a strange, unexplainable anxiety washed over him.
The woodshed was cold and damp, with wind whistling through every crack.
Felix huddled in the straw, shivering with cold.
He hadn't eaten for four days.
His stomach felt like it was on fire, the pain making him dizzy and delirious.
He muttered, "Mommy, I'm so hungry."
Lost in a haze, Felix mumbled as his tiny hand absentmindedly stroked the urn clutched to his chest.
He whispered, "Mommy, why aren't you awake yet? Did I do something wrong to make you mad?
"I won't eat the bread anymore, Mommy. I'll give them all to you. Please, wake up, okay?"
I drifted beside him, my tears all dried up. Now all I could do was cry out without a sound.
Felix, I couldn't wake up anymore.
Even if I try my best to give him a little warmth, I was just a ghost, and my touch would only make him feel even colder.
In the middle of the night, the door was pushed open.
Scarlett walked in with a bowl of steaming noodles in her hand.
The smell of hot noodles instantly woke Felix up.
He opened his eyes and stared at the bowl of noodles, his throat making hungry gurgling sounds.
Scarlett asked with a smile, "Are you hungry?"
Felix eyed her warily and said, "You're the mean lady."
