Chapter 1
The moment I said yes to Alex Grant, pop-up comments flashed across my screen: [He doesn't want you. He wants your kidney.]
It turned out I was a carefully chosen living kidney donor for him to save his precious girl, Sophie Lane.
Since they only exploited me for my kidney, I decided to flip the script, rip apart their lies, and make sure this crazy couple crashes and burns.

After the company's second round of health check-ups, our CEO, Alex Grant, started chasing after me.
He was loaded, good-looking, and treated me like a princess.
Three months later, I said yes.
But the second I agreed, pop-up comments exploded across my screen.
[OMG, the male lead, Alex, is going to such lengths to get the female lead, Sophie, a kidney.]
[Childhood sweethearts are the ultimate ship. Mia, you're nothing but a side character. Get out of our sight. Alex's first kiss belongs to Sophie.]
The side character? Me? Well, that was amusing.
Alex had chiseled high-brow bones, exuding a hint of restrained allure.
With this handsome CEO practically served up on a silver platter, how could I resist? I went for it and kissed him.
[What are you doing, Mia? Get your lips off him. That's Alex's first kiss.]
[How's Alex going to explain this to Sophie tonight?]
[Oh my god, his first kiss is gone like that?]
[Wow, Alex is claimed. I'm dropping this.]
[Geez, talk about high standards.]
Even with my eyes closed, those pop-up comments kept floating in front of me.
Every now and then, some words I didn't understand would pop up.
But since this was Alex's first kiss, I went all in and kissed him harder.
[Alex, seriously, what are you doing? Why aren't you pushing her off?
[Poor Sophie, she's going to be heartbroken when she sees that lipstick smeared all over Alex's lips.]
[Alex is doing all this for Sophie. He sacrificed his first kiss to get her a kidney. Sophie's definitely going to be moved when she finds out.]
Alex was totally unprepared for my kiss. He froze up, but didn't resist at all.
A man could have someone hidden deep in his heart, yet it never stopped him from kissing others.
"So, you're my boyfriend now," I teased.
Alex was still dazed, and when I let go, he instinctively leaned in for more, but I cut him off.
Rule number twenty-two from my heartbreaker handbook read: [Never make it too easy for a guy.]
My eyes were soft and a little shy as I looked at him.
Alex got a little flustered under my gaze, his face flushed as he murmured a soft yeah.
Alex looked so innocent if I didn't know he was after my kidney.
Suddenly, a phone call killed the mood between us.
[Here we go. That's the big moment tonight. Sophie's calling Alex to meet at her place. She gets all jealous and touched when she finds out Alex confessed to Mia for her. And then they kiss.]
[But wait. Alex kissed Mia, and now he's going back to kiss Sophie? This is too much. I'm out.]
[Don't leave yet. Give our sweet story another shot. Wait till Sophie gets her kidney and kicks that clingy Mia to the curb, then it'll be pure amazing.]
[Yeah, give it a shot. Mia is going to be out of the picture soon. It's to show Sophie how much she means to Alex.]
Before Alex could check his phone, I closed it for him.
"It's our first day together. After dinner, will you go somewhere with me?" I looked at him, hopeful.
Alex hesitated, so I quickly put on my best understanding girlfriend act. "Is work keeping you busy? Go on."
He looked a little guilty, but also relieved. "Tomorrow, I promise I'll spend the whole day with you."
Honestly, wanting to keep him around was muscle memory from my days as a heartbreaker.
But deep down, I was actually hoping he'd leave as soon as possible so I could process all the info from those pop-up comments.
[Poor Mia, got ditched.]
[Alex, hurry up and go to Sophie. She's waiting for you.]
[Is Mia about to cause trouble?]
[Why does anyone feel sorry for Mia? She's clearly here for the money.]
These pop-up comments are hilarious. Everyone felt sorry for Sophie and looked down on me.
To them, losing a kidney was far less meaningful than losing a kiss.
They'd even labeled me a gold digger, so Sophie could take my kidney without the slightest moral guilt.
I took my time, slowly enjoying every bite of the meal in front of me.
Alex had reserved the entire Michelin restaurant to confess to me, with the chef cooking exclusively for me. Since it was all for me, I might as well indulge.
Since everyone was so eager to see me act like a gold-digger, I would give them a show.
[Are you home yet?] My phone buzzed. Alex had sent me a message.
I didn't reply.
Alex: [Something urgent came up at work today. I'm really sorry. I'll make it up to you tomorrow.]
I still didn't reply.
By the time I got home, I'd already pieced together the whole plot of this story from those pop-up comments.
Sophie, the female lead, was the daughter of the Grant family's maid.
The two of them grew up side by side. Alex's parents were strict and pretty much always buried in their work.
In Alex's heart, Sophie was the only warmth in that big, empty mansion.
She'd always notice when he was feeling down, worry about his health, and scrimp and save to buy him birthday gifts.
After Sophie's mom got sick and passed away, Alex's parents, because of their history with her, let Sophie stay with the Grant family.
One day, Alex couldn't hide his feelings anymore and finally confessed to Sophie. But Sophie turned him down.
She couldn't believe someone like her could ever be truly loved by the rich boy. She felt she wasn't good enough, and thought he was pitying her.
To see how deep Alex's feelings really went, she faked a medical report and said she had a serious kidney disease.
She never expected that someone as proud as Alex would actually swallow his pride and try to win over another woman to save her.
While Alex was making moves on me, Sophie was crying every single day.
She was moved, her heart ached for him, and she felt guilty all at once.
But she couldn't say a word. If she did, this whole test would be ruined.
She had to see for herself how far Alex was willing to go for her.
In the end, she finally believed that Alex truly loved her.
Once the surgery was over, Alex cut me off completely.
I couldn't deal with it, so I started tailing Alex everywhere and eventually spotted him together with Sophie.
I thought Sophie was a mistress, so I went all out making trouble for her.
Every time I stirred things up, Alex became more protective of Sophie, and their relationship grew deeper.
In the end, Alex made sure I was out of the picture for good.
After everything they went through, Alex and Sophie finally got their happily ever after.
All I could think of was that old internet phrase I used to love. "There is so much to roast that I don't know where to start."
After learning the whole plot, I couldn't stop crying.
How unlucky did I have to be to get dragged into some crazy couple's twisted game?
[I'm so touched. Alex is so devoted.]
[Sophie totally deserves to be loved. She's been through so much.]
[Serves Mia right. She kept clinging to Alex.]
[Totally. Alex never liked her. She was imagining things.]
[She volunteered to give up her kidney, didn't she? Alex never made her do it.]
[And then she went and stalked Alex, making trouble for Sophie. She was asking for it.]
Reading those pop-up comments, still going back and forth about the plot, I suddenly felt like laughing.
A man had lied to another woman to prove how much he loved someone else, all for her kidney.
The woman had feigned illness to test his love for her, watching him lie to another person.
In the end, the two lovers ended up together. As for the one who lost her kidney and died, she was instead branded a villain in some people's eyes.
In this story, I was here to keep the plot moving. When I died, the pop-up comments were all celebrating.
But in my world, I was real, flesh, blood, and a mind of my own.
I was not about to be some side character or a pawn for anyone. I was a heartbreaker, after all. Oh, and now I was also a gold-digger.
