That night, I had the housekeeper clear out a guest room for Adam.

He seemed almost startled. "I can stay here too?"

Normally, no. Bodyguards had their own quarters, and it wasn't my job to arrange them. But Adam was a special case. He was sent by Emily.

Keeping him close felt safer.
