Chapter 5

Margot told everyone that Harvey and Yalle recruiters were already calling.

She was spinning fantasies, but since no one could verify them yet, she ran with it.

She even dropped by our house again to gloat. "So, Ophelia, did Darla estimate her score? How is she looking?"

My mother looked at me and said, "We didn't bother. The test is over."

"True." Margot nodded. "But that last physics problem was a nightmare. Most kids bombed it. Roman said he nailed it, though. Did Darla even finish it?"

My mom's smile was starting to look forced.

"I got it," I interrupted…
