Chapter 3
After breakfast, William Winters drove me to the office.
The company was supposed to be mine one day.
But because I married Peter, everything changed.
I just wanted to spend every moment with him, always putting Peter first.
I hardly ever showed up at the office.
This ended up causing all sorts of trouble with the finances, until William had to come back from overseas to fix everything.
Everyone knew how much I liked Peter.
Someone quietly handed me a limited-edition Peter poster when nobody was around.
Suddenly, before I could even reach for it, a hand snatched the poster away.
I looked up and saw Henry crumple the poster and toss it straight into the trash.
William spoke up. "From now on, anything related to Peter is banned here."
It suddenly hit me that Peter was a huge celebrity.
Once we walked into the office, William waved over his assistant and started giving instructions.
William said, "Make sure all Peter posters are taken down. And also..."
"William, you don't have to go that far." I cut in.
Besides, our families still did business together, not to mention the ties between us.
William could see I was worried.
He shook his head with a gentle laugh. "I told you, I won't let you be wronged."
With that, he waved his hand, signaling the assistant to go ahead.
William had a last-minute meeting to attend.
Suddenly, it was just me and Henry left alone in the office, and the air felt strangely tense.
I hadn't spent much time around Henry.
About the only thing I knew about him was that he'd had a crush on someone for years.
But it never worked out. Word was that the person was already into someone else.
Henry was staring at me, and I instinctively turned my head away, feeling uneasy.
Soon, my phone started buzzing in my bag.
I fished it out, paused for a moment, then hung up right away without a second thought.
Henry arched an eyebrow, a small smile playing on his lips. "Not gonna pick up?"
"Just spam," I replied, my tone instantly turning icy.
Not long after, my phone buzzed with a text message.
[I'm sick. Bring me some medicine.] Then, another message popped up. It was a hotel room number.
I frowned, staring at my phone.
I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't even notice Henry had stood up.
By the time I came back to my senses, Henry was already there, eyebrows raised with a sly grin. "Well, so who just sent our little princess a hotel room number?"
I'd always been sharp when it comes to my own safety.
I could always sense Peter approaching right away.
But this time, I was completely startled, breathing hard as I tried to catch my breath.
Henry seemed just as surprised, handing me a glass of water, but still teasing. "That room number looks familiar. Isn't that Mr. Grant's private suite?"
Every rich kid has their own private suite wherever they go.
Simon's room number was 0726.
I never thought twice about it before.
It finally clicked. 0726 was Nina's birthday.
My fingers couldn't stop shaking.
Henry, who'd just been teasing me, instantly picked up on my reaction.
He frowned, probing. "What's wrong? Is that brat Peter giving you trouble?"
"I may not be good at much, but if anyone messes with you, I know how to handle it."
I just shook my head.
I immediately hit block and delete on Peter's number.
"Someone who means nothing to me now. Getting into trouble for them just isn't worth it," I said, glancing up at Henry to make sure he got my point.
Henry had that mischievous glint in his eyes, almost as if he was flirting with me without saying a word.
His intense gaze actually made me blush, and I couldn't help but feel a bit flustered.
But Henry clearly didn't buy it.
