Chapter 5

Nathan pointed at the subdued attacker on the floor and the glinting dagger.

His chest heaved with anger.

He snapped, "You almost got me killed, and you're blaming the person who saved my life?

Sophia jolted, her entire body shivering at Nathan's furious outburst—she'd never seen him so angry before.

Tears spilled down her cheeks in an instant.

Sobbing uncontrollably, she choked out, "I didn't mean to, Nathan. I was just so scared.

"I was terrified of losing you. It was just instinct. I only wanted to protect you."
