Chapter 2
While I was kneeling at the entrance of the private room with a dog collar around my neck, a bunch of men came striding in.
It wasn't until three in the morning that the male models finally started leaving.
Fiona had a look of utter satisfaction on her face. Anyone with eyes could tell exactly what had just happened.
"Mike, go settle the bill," Fiona said.
She ordered, "Then swing by the market and grab some premium steaks and fresh seafood. My mom just called. She wants you back at dawn to talk about the engagement gifts.
"All my relatives will be there, so don't make her lose face, alright? The steaks better be top-notch, and the lobster needs to be super fresh. You hear me?"
I didn't say a word.
Fiona and her friends didn't even have the energy to pay attention to me anymore. But as they left the bar, they couldn't help but make fun of me.
"Man, living like that is just pathetic."
"Who cares? He's got money, and he's happy to let Fiona spend it. We might as well enjoy the perks."
"He totally glared at me just now, did you see that? Next time I see him, I'm gonna dig his eyes out and see if he dares look at me like that again!"
Just then, the waiter came over, looking at me with obvious sympathy. He bent down and helped me get up off the floor.
He shook his head. "Man, why do this to yourself? Spending your own cash just to feel miserable? There are plenty of awesome women out there, you know. Why get stuck on someone like her?
"She was getting down with other guys right in front of you. Doesn't that make you mad, even a little?"
Seeing that I didn't respond, the waiter just shook his head and let out a sigh.
"Well, your girlfriend blew through over 35 thousand dollars this time. I talked to the boss for you and got him to round it down, so you only need to pay 30 thousand dollars," he said.
Thirty thousand dollars! My eyes suddenly sparkled. Tears started to blur my vision.
The waiter jumped a little. "Dude, why are you staring at me like that?"
At last, I was finally about to drop that 30 thousand dollars.
A whole year of misery was finally about to be over.
Not even bothering to wipe my nose, I grabbed my phone and sent off the last 30 thousand simp coins.
Just as I finished the payment, a robotic voice echoed in my mind. [Three million simp coins have been spent. Three quadrillion dollars have been credited to your system account!]
As soon as the voice faded, I pulled up my banking app and watched the numbers skyrocket.
Ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, millions, billions... 3 quadrillion dollars! It was really in my account!
I couldn't hold it in anymore. Tears just started streaming down my face.
The waiter looked totally freaked out and kept trying to comfort me. "Sir, please don't cry. Just stay away from that woman. If you do, you won't have to go through this kind of pain anymore."
I grabbed onto his sleeve, choking on my sobs.
The waiter got even more worried. "Sir, if you want, I can refund the money. I'll have the boss go after your girlfriend for the bill. He's got ties to the underworld. He's the best at collecting debts."
I hurried to stop him. "No, no, that's not necessary. I'm just... I'm just so happy, I can't help but cry."
The waiter just stared at me, totally speechless.
That night, I contacted the real estate agent who'd been showing me properties and bought ten luxury mansions all at once.
Next, I called up the car sales rep who'd always taken care of me and ordered seven matching sports cars, each one in a different color of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
Finally, I went to a five-star hotel and got myself the craziest, most over-the-top presidential VIP suite they had on offer.
I sprawled out on the humongous, double king-size bed, rolling around nonstop like a child.
Clutching my phone so tight my fingers hurt, I stared at that astronomical balance, sometimes screaming, sometimes sobbing like a lunatic.
It wasn't until morning light started creeping in that I finally drifted off to sleep.
But I was jolted awake by my phone ringing. It was Fiona's mother, Michelle Cohen.
She snapped, "Mike, didn't I tell you to buy seafood for the seafood party? Where the hell did you go?
"Today's the day we're discussing your marriage to Fiona! All her uncles and aunts are here, and everyone's waiting to eat!
"Get your ass over here right now! If you don't hurry, I'll make Fiona dump you! You won't even get a chance to kiss her feet again!"
With that, Michelle hung up.
On autopilot, I threw on my clothes and grabbed a cab straight to Fiona's house.
It wasn't until I found myself at Fiona's doorstep that it hit me. I didn't have to be her lapdog anymore.
Just as I was about to turn and leave, Michelle showed up, lugging a hotel takeout delivery.
The moment she saw me, she rolled her eyes. Then she dumped the bags right into my arms.
And she started laying into me. "You can't even handle the simplest task! Why did I ever expect you to be useful? Take away your cash, and you're absolutely worthless!"
