"Dr. Bennett."

He pinned the badge to my lapel himself.

"Twelve years. Welcome back."

The entrance hall went silent. Daniel's outstretched hand dropped to his side.

Sophie stared at the badge resting against my charcoal suit. It read plainly: Dr. Claire Bennett, Clinical Director.

Vanessa reacted first. "She's a doctor?"

She turned to look at Daniel. His face was a mess.

"She used to... do some child counseling," he said.

The head of the Willowridge Center glanced at him.

"Dr. Bennett is a co-founder of the Willowridge Center. As of today, she is our reinstated Clinical Director."
