Chapter 4

Nadia held out her hand.

Brooke's expression changed right away. He took her hand carefully and blew on her finger, his brows drawn together in concern.

"Don't do things like that again," he said gently. "I'll be happy as long as you're okay."

He fussed over that tiny red mark like it was something serious, yet he had never once looked at the scars on my hands from all the years I had spent cooking for him.

I turned to leave. I couldn't stand watching them act so affectionately.
