Chapter 4

On Monday morning, Sasha slept in until ten, as usual.

By this time, I would normally have dropped Jayden off at preschool and started tackling company emails.

However, today, the house was dead quiet. It wasn't until noon that the preschool teacher called.

"Mrs. Barnett, why haven't you come to pick up Jayden yet? Also, we need you to sign the paperwork to withdraw him," the teacher said.

Sasha was still groggy, but she shot awake at that. "Pick him up? What do you mean? Didn't Julie pick him up? And what's this about withdrawing him? Who said he was…
