Chapter 4

At noon, I made Lily a plate of spaghetti.

To be honest, I barely put any effort into it. I simply boiled some water, threw in the spaghetti, and then casually tossed it together with eggs and crushed tomatoes.

But Lily really enjoyed her meal. She twirled her fork, took small bites of the spaghetti, and wiped up every last bit of the sauce.

"Thank you, Uncle Ryan. It was delicious," she said.

I looked at her, wondering if she had been trained or something.

As I was clearing the dishes, the doorbell rang.

"Who is it?" I asked.
