Chapter 3
Just like that, fresh off his healthy midnight run, Graham found himself sitting in a greasy diner booth, inhaling loaded chili fries and ice-cold beers.
I smiled sweetly as I watched him shovel the high-sodium, high-cholesterol junk food down his throat, dropping helpful reminders. "This bacon is so crispy, have some more. Eat the red meat, it builds up your strength."
The late-night line cooks and the few stragglers at the counter threw us looks of pure admiration.
"You're a lucky man, buddy!" the fry cook called out. "You have a gorgeous wife who runs with you in the middle of the night and even buys you food after!"
"You don't see couples working out together like that anymore. You guys have a great relationship."
Floating on the praise, Graham chugged his beer, threw a heavy arm around my shoulder, and bragged to the strangers. "You bet. My wife is the absolute best!"
I leaned into his chest, accepting the compliments with a modest smile.
Out of his line of sight, my finger tapped my phone screen, taking one last look at the health app data.
The daily grease fest was the heavy foundation.
The midnight junk food was adding fuel to the fire.
The ill-advised, strenuous night running was the straw that would break the camel's back.
And the post-workout binge eating at the diner was the perfect closed loop.
Every single step overflowed with a wife's profound care for her husband's health.
And every single step pushed his frail, ticking time bomb of a heart closer to total collapse.
When I ran into our neighbor Mrs. Jane Higgins at the grocery store, she practically beamed at me. "Violet, you are absolutely glowing. Graham must really be treating you right.
"I see him out there looking so energetic, running at night. He has more stamina than the guys in their twenties."
I offered her a shy smile. "Oh, he just has too much restless energy. But exercise is always good for the body. I support him completely."
Support him. Yes, I supported him more than anyone else in the world as he sprinted toward the finish line I had so meticulously paved for him.

While my care for his physical state was flawless, I never neglected his mental and physiological conditioning.
The catch was that ever since the day I confirmed his infidelity, my body was completely off-limits to him.
Every time he tried to touch me, I felt violently nauseous.
But that did not stop me from keeping him in a permanent state of high-strung, starved arousal that he could never satisfy at home.
I intentionally began altering my browsing habits on our shared Wi-Fi network.
The browser history slowly began to show pages for premium adult toy boutiques and niche lingerie brands.
The search bars on our shared shopping apps retained keywords like couples fantasy, seduction, and bedroom secrets.
The algorithm is a cold, highly efficient machine. Before long, not only my phone, but our shared living room tablet, and even Graham's personal phone were bombarded with targeted ads.
Promotions for lingerie with shockingly little fabric, advertisements for inventive toys, and short video clips masquerading as educational but carrying intense visual impact flooded his daily feed.
At first, Graham would frantically swipe them away, his face burning. "What kind of trash are you looking at online all day?"
But the glint in his eyes could not lie.
I did not argue. I simply responded with an incredibly shy, innocent tone. "Oh, I must have clicked a pop-up by accident. The internet algorithms are so annoying lately."
My voice and my expression flawlessly imitated a sheltered girl peeking into a forbidden room, terrified but morbidly curious.
This blend of pure innocence and explicit suggestion was far more damaging than any direct seduction.
Graham swallowed hard. He looked at me with a complicated mix of shock, suspicion, and a deeply provoked lust he could not hide.
I took it a step further. I registered a burner social media account, completely detached from our real lives, dedicated purely to exploring this new world.
Then, I deliberately left the tablet unlocked so Graham would discover it.
Soon, bolder, much more explicit images and links started conveniently appearing in our digital space.
I never once said we should try it. I only asked if it was pretty, or if he thought those things actually worked. I left all the blanks for his imagination to fill.
His body, already ravaged by a high-fat diet and severe sleep deprivation, was now constantly pumping out exhausting surges of adrenaline and hormones.
I knew exactly what he was doing with those links. He was forwarding the vast majority of them to Kendall Wright.
I had casually glanced at his locked screen one evening and caught a notification from her. [You are so bad.] [Buy me the black one!] [Let's try that next time.]
Thanks to my invisible contributions, the dynamic between the cheating couple became scorching hot and totally unhinged.
I could only imagine the lengths Kendall went to, using these new toys and tricks to keep Graham desperately chained to her bed.
This was exactly what I wanted.
But throwing kindling from afar was not enough. I needed this fire to burn completely out of control. I needed it to consume him.
The perfect opportunity practically knocked on my door.
Kendall was even more impatient and insecure than I had anticipated.
