Chapter 1
For the third prenatal checkup, my mate, Eric Lupin, blew me off again.
When I pushed open the door to his office, he was making out with his new assistant.
Eric didn't even blink when he saw me. "This is Selena Hart. I think she's got what it takes to be my Luna."
As he spoke, he gently lifted Selena off his lap.
I handed him the prenatal report without saying anything.
Eric didn't bother to glance at it before tossing it aside. "I'm sure you'll agree, right? After all, an Alpha like me deserves a better mate.
"Only a better mate can bear me better children."
He thought I'd start crying and making a scene, like every other time I caught him cheating.
But he had no idea that the ten-year deal I made with my family was almost up.
I was about to leave him.

On our tenth wedding anniversary, my werewolf mate, Eric, promised he'd go with me to the prenatal checkup.
The doctor said we'd find out the baby's gender this time, and I was dying to know, so I could start getting things ready for the little one.
But first thing in the morning, he said something came up at work and told me to go to the hospital alone.
He never showed up, not even after I finished the checkup.
I tried calling his phone, but he didn't pick up.

So I took the report and headed to his office.
When I pushed the door open, I saw a young woman sitting on his lap.
He was completely lost in kissing her.
Eric didn't fluster at all when he saw me.
He introduced her to me. "This is Selena, my new assistant. I think she's got what it takes to be my Luna."
Here, a werewolf's fated mate is known as a Luna.
Even though we were married, Eric always saw me as too plain to be his Luna.
As he spoke, he gently gripped Selena's waist and lifted her off his lap.
Then he leaned in and whispered something in her ear, guiding her out with a hand on her shoulder.
As Selena turned to leave, I saw Eric give her butt a quick squeeze.
I handed him the prenatal report without saying anything.
Eric didn't bother to glance at it before tossing it aside. "She's amazing, isn't she? The Moon Goddess said an Alpha like me deserves a better mate."
As he spoke, he carelessly took his wedding ring out of the drawer and slipped it back on.
He kept his eyes on me the whole time, a smirk on his lips, like he was waiting for the show to start.
Every time I caught him cheating before, I'd cry and make a scene, totally losing it.
Eric would stand by, watching the drama unfold, only stepping in to comfort me once I'd worn myself out.
He knew I was all bark and no bite. A little sweet talk from him, and I'd forgive him.
But this time, I didn't cry or make a scene.
I pulled the divorce papers out of my bag and laid them on his desk. "You really need a better mate.
"Let's sever the bond. Then you won't have to keep taking your ring off and on."
Eric froze for a moment and then smirked, like he thought I was joking.
He grabbed the papers and tore them in half. "Come on. You'd never actually sever the bond with me.
"You've got no family or career. You wouldn't survive a day without me."
I looked at Eric and said, "Don't think too highly of yourself, and never look down on others."
Back when I insisted on marrying him, I broke things off with my family, so I always told him I had no family.
All these years, he built his own business empire, while I never had a job.
That made him think I was totally dependent on him, that I couldn't survive without him.
But he didn't know that my family had been blessed with power by the Moon Goddess.
My grandmother, Elara Voss, was the Moon Goddess's sole high priestess in the world.
Back then, I turned my back on my family for Eric.
When I left home, I made a ten-year deal with Elara.
If he could love me faithfully for ten years, my family would bless our union and keep supporting his business.
But if he betrayed me, I'd have to leave him immediately and return to my family, accepting whatever they had planned for me.
Ten years ago, Eric stood by the seaside, weeping as he swore he'd love no one but me. But he had long forgotten that promise.
